Concrete Garage Floors & Slabs in Guelph

Replace cracked or sloping garage floors, pour the slab for a new detached garage, or upgrade to a hard-trowel polished finish. Insured concrete contractor working across Wellington County.

Why Guelph projects need a tailored approach

Guelph sits on Glacial till over dolostone bedrock; bedrock is often within 1.2 m on the south end of town, and the homes we work on are spread across neighbourhoods like Old University, The Ward, St. George's Park, Westminster Woods, Pineridge, Kortright Hills and Two Rivers. Dolostone shelves on the south end (Westminster Woods, Pineridge) require dowel-and-pin work where granular bases would normally sit. North Guelph has deeper till. Combined with Inland, no lake moderation, 20-plus freeze-thaw cycles, deep frost in open lots, this changes how we design the slab and the base.

We pull permits where needed through City of Guelph Building Services (1 Carden Street), so the work is documented and inspected, not buried under landscaping. Whether you are in postal code area N1C, N1E, N1G, N1H, N1K, N1L, we serve every Wellington County address with the same crew, the same supervisor, and the same written quote.

How we build a garage slab in Guelph

Our garage-slab process

  1. Step 1. Site visit and measurement. We confirm slab thickness, drainage direction, and any service penetrations (drains, conduit, EV charger feeds).
  2. Step 2. Demolition and removal of the failed slab. We protect the foundation wall, sill plate and door track during break-out.
  3. Step 3. Sub-grade preparation. Excavate to depth, compact, install Granular A in 100 mm lifts and re-compact, then place the vapour barrier and rebar mat.
  4. Step 4. Pour day. We pour at 32 MPa, screed to grade, bull-float, edge, and hard-trowel to a smooth finish suitable for epoxy or stain.
  5. Step 5. Saw-cutting and curing. Control joints saw-cut within 12 hours, then 7 days of moist curing or curing compound depending on weather.
  6. Step 6. Final walkthrough. We pull forms, clean the apron, and walk the slab with you before invoicing.
